The website is beautiful. I didn’t know about it. It came up when I searched for Matthew because his ESPN link wasn’t working for me. Eventhough we never saw much of each other I still miss him the same. I’m still wearing the black bracelet you gave me. I never took it off. I guess that’s my little piece of Randy.

Though I never knew this GREAT man of God, he was a Blessing to all those he touched. So sad that his life was taken sooooooo short, but thank our God in heaven he made a difference while he was here on earth..

So you are at peace Randy, so go on and take your rest, we all loved you, but God loved love you best. So we will meet again on the other shore, where the departing of GOD’S children will be no more………………………………….

Mrs. Simmons…

I am so pleased to find this site, which I hope will serve as living memorial to a great officer. I remember seeing Ofc. Simmons on the series LAPD: Life on the Beat. I was so impressed with his professional attitude, I strived,prayed, worked hard and succeded in becoming a police officer in Atlanta Ga.

I was in the academy when Ofc. Simmons was called home, but his spirit will continue to live in scores of us who wear the uniform near and far.

I am so sorry for your loss one year later. But thank you, because for the time Ofc. Simmons was here,he was the motivation some of us needed to take that step into this career.

Rest in peace and please watch over us Officer Simmons……..Thank you

As I ran to qualify for the D Team running team I kept repeating to myself, ” What would Randy Do ?” Every time I find myself on a call up or doing someting that takes me to the edge of my abilities, I repeat that mantra, “What Would Randy Do?” The Claw drags me along and I become the man I hope he would be proud of. Lisa, thank you for giving us a place to say the things we only feel. DTB.

I just wanted to send my love and support to you and your family. You may hear and read countless accounts of the way Randy positively effected so many people, but believe it or not, that is just a small sample of the people he touched without even knowing it (like me). I remember being a young LAPD officer, in pretty decent shape, then seeing Randy at the Academy and thinking to myself, THAT IS WHAT A POLICE OFFICER IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE. He had an incredible uniform presence. I wish I could explain to you the way his presence made other officers feel…The situation could have been a complete mess, but you saw Randy and Hart show up, it was like the real LAPD is here now…. we can get this mess straightened out….

My prayers are with you and your family…. I thank God for loaning us an angel like Randy and thank you for sharing him with the rest of us….

I met Randy @ Central when I was a staff w/one of the department’s juvenile programs. Our common was about the children of the community. When Randy was killed, I was in the Sheriff’s Academy and would never have able to attend the funeral if my staff was not invited to be part of the staff in the funeral details. Our class was the one from the academy who attended. We were all priviledged to have attended.
I have few friends who are SWAT officers who worked with Randy, I feel their pain. I am keeping prayer for all SWAT officers who go out for calls.
Your husband had made a huge impact on my classmates. Randy was a giant of a man. He has mesmerized everyone who have heard of or knows him.
You and all of us have been blessed to be a part of his life. My prayer and thoughts are with your family for always.

This was a great race! The route, which I had never run before was beautiful and a fun challenge. Actually the best route I’ve ever run. It could not have been a prettier day.

I agree that the race was well organized. The t-shirts were very nice too. I am hoping that this becomes a yearly tribute to Randy Simmons and continue as a fund raiser for the foundation. If it does continue there will be double the number of runners next year. Word will definitely spread quickly on how great this race is.

Thanks to the Central Division for organizing this race. Really a great tribute.

i had a great time at this race, it was very well organized.
hope to see it again next year, doing “cardiac” is always a challenge.
maybe it can be an official tune-up race for the la marathon or
even baker-vegas.

My name is Richard Bose. I am a Deputy with the Washington County (Oregon) Sheriff’s Office as well as a Washington State Cougar (class of 89). Yesterday I was in attendance at the WSU v. USC football game in Pullman where Randy was honored. My brother, Commander Willie Bose of the WCSO was with me also(we were the people sitting to the right to Randy’s family in the stands). We were both moved by the tribute and by Randy’s work and devotion. I only wish I could have met him sometime. His dedication to his family, profession, community and the Lord sound exceptional. The type of person you feel honored to serve with and know.

As a Christian, Law Enforcement Officer and Cougar myself I understand the same values and sense of duty. After seeing the tribute and reading about Randy and his work I can say that Randy will be in my thoughts and will serve as a continuing role model in my work and life.
I was very sorry to hear of his passing in the line of duty.

I am a friend of Lisa Simmon’s mother….and have know Lisa from a small child…Who more deserving than she to have loved and married such a wonderful human being..

I had never met Randy Simmons…but..felt propelled to offer this sentiment… after learning more about his life and leadership with the LAPD, and the various Los Angeles communities that were beneficiaries of his involvements.

I can truly say that Mr. Simmons was one of a kind..and a person who clearly led by example…in all respects!

Clearly, Mr. Simmons’s life will have a long lasting affect on all who knew him personally, and those, like myself, have only read about him, his accomplishments, and the impeccable manner in which he led his life…He is a role model..

The best to Randy Simmon’s entire family…wife Lisa, children, and remaining family members!

I am truly saddened to learn of the death of your husband and father. I didn’t hear about it until today up in Seattle as I was reading an article on the internet about LAPD SWAT. Your husband was a very inspiring man. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the service he has provided to not just Los Angeles but to the rest of the citizens and his fellow officers all over the nation as well. Hi Lisa…

I am so HAPPY that you are keeping Randy’s memory alive on this website! He was such a Special Guy! I initially met Randy when he was working Pacific Division (Venice) way back when. I am a Realtor and there I was one day in Oakwood on Broadway Avenue knocking on my clients front door who wasn’t answering, even though we had scheduled an appointment to sign an Escrow amendment at that time. As I kept knocking and getting annoyed that they weren’t answering, up rolls Randy and his Partner. They stopped and got out of their car and the first thing Randy said to me was “Is everything okay?” I remember it like it was yesterday because my reply to Randy was “everything would be fine if these people would just answer the damm door and sign this escrow amendment so it can close Escrow”, Randy laughed and said “he didn’t think they would be signing it for awhile because he had just finished booking them both in jail and came back to see if they could catch the son”. Randy was in the beginning of his career days back then, and Oakwood was a little rougher back then, so Randy immediately began telling me that “Oakwood was no place for a pretty white girl to be knocking on doors alone”…
From that day on, Randy became my personal babysitter when I was in Oakwood and we became fast friends. I was dating an Officer from another Division at that time and once Randy found that out, I was “family”. You and I actually met at Friday’s in the Marina the night that you and Randy met! I remember Randy stopping by my Office a couple of weeks after that night saying “he was in love” - and he truly was! Back in those days, I think Randy and I were the only Dallas Cowboy fans around since they hadn’t even won a game in seasons, let alone anything else. Randy was such a special and geninue human being! We would run into one another now and then over the years and he was always the same Randy, that big smile and that unbelievable sense of humor! I am just so happy that he found you that night and you made his life so Happy!!! He truly was a happy guy and he found everything in you (and more) that he used to talk about finding one day! I thought about that as I stood at Holy Cross looking over at you and the kids, thinking that Randy had found exactly what he wanted, and used to always say “didn’t exist”. Strangely enough, I had been in a very uncomfortable pair of heeled shoes from 8:30am until 5:pm when the Holy Cross service began, and it was that thought of Randy truly being blessed in finding you and the life you gave him that made me forget all about my throbbing feet! You are a truly special lady and one who will blessed many times over for the love and support you gave to Randy! I will always remember Randy and his big heart, and his compassion for others, and I know that he’s sitting on that 50 yard line at every Dallas Cowboys game guiding them to the Superbowl this year!
